Since wardrobe is a personal choice, we don't insist on any certain styles or colors. The best guidance we can give is to wear what you feel comfortable and confident in! Feel free to bring more than one outfit if you are unsure or would like variety in your pictures.
Solid colors work well on most people. Things that don't photograph well: small stripes or checks and neon colors. You'll want to be cautious of wearing clothing with large patterns, text or corporate logos as they can be visually distracting.
Collared shirts should be freshly ironed and all clothes should be free of wrinkles and pet hair.
Short skirts may be worn, but do understand this may limit posing.
Ladies - choose a well-fitting bra with straps that won't show and a color that won't show through clothing.
Many senior photos are taken in the Fall when weather starts to get chilly. Consider bringing a warm coat that can be taken off during photos and put back on during breaks. We'll want to keep you warm and your skin healthy-looking.
Style your hair the way you usually feel comfortable. We advise against coloring your hair or making a drastic change. This is not the time to try something new & unfamiliar. Some clients visit a stylist for hair and makeup while others handle it themselves - we leave that up to you! If you are planning a haircut, you'll want to do that at least a week or more prior so you can be sure you're happy with your new cut.
Facial hair should be worn neatly as desired or cleanly shaven.
If you wear makeup, aim for it to be as natural and as "you" as possible. Senior photos do not require stage/theatre-level application - our cameras pick up every detail, so less is more!
Eye makeup should be natural - avoid fake lashes, no heavy liner on your bottom lids and consider a lighter shade under the browline, this will give your eyes the appearance of being more open.
Wear lipstick or gloss with a slight shimmer - matte can make lips appear thin and dry.
Concealer on blemishes is fine, as long as it matches and blends well. Concerned about a spot or two of acne? We'd prefer you leave it as-is and we'll edit it out. Avoid heavy application of foundation or bronzer.
Ideally wear glasses that have a non-reflective or anti-glare coating. The purple/blue tint can be difficult if not impossible to avoid. Consider wearing contact lenses or borrowing glasses from your optometrist for the session.
Clean your glasses, the lenses should be free from fingerprints and dust.
Please feel free to talk with us before or during your session about anything you're worried about regarding your photos. We'll guide you through the process with gentle posing and flattering angles to help capture the best version of you!
